Designer - Residential Experience:
We are looking for someone with 3 - 5 years experience with Residential design & construction (preferably including ground-up Construction Documents). As a Designer at McMahon Architects, you will work directly with all levels of staff to contribute to the implementation of the residential, commercial interior and hospitality projects undertaken in our office. The focus of this position is Residential projects. You will be asked to contribute to more than one project at a time.
On a daily basis you may be required to interact with the various trades and vendors associated with a project. This may include contractors, product suppliers, property managers and owners, engineers and consultants to list a few. Designer is responsible for contributions to drawing sets including Fit Plans, Schematic Designs and Construction Documents with guidance from the assigned Asst. Project Mangers/Project Manager. Other duties may include field surveys and existing conditions drawings, details and design studies, product critiques and finish selection. You will also be asked to undertake administrative chores that are necessary to keep a busy and growing office functioning.
Education
Completion of an Architectural or Interior Design degree program.
Experience
3 - 5 years’ experience in a professional office working on all aspects of high quality Residential Interior Design & Construction Observation
Technical Skills
Must be proficient with Revit (with experience in a work setting) and AutoCAD. Also desired: 3D rendering skills - PhotoShop, In Design, Enscape. Also, MS Office Suite, Microsoft Project and general Microsoft Office Tools etc.
Responsibilities
Work closely with in-house design and project management teams on all aspects or project lifecycle, including creation and development of design documents. Meet with clients, maintain and develop relationships with Clients, Landlords, Brokers & Building Managers, Engineers and Vendors. Help to improve professional standards for office/staff; Revit drawing/Construction Documents; verbal and written communications; etc.
The applicant will need to be capable of assisting with the management of multiple projects of various sizes (5 +) at one time, meet deadlines and maintain a consistent level of quality in production and design. Support project teams on variety of project types simultaneously and team with in-house designers to:
Develop space plans/schematic designs
Produce Construction Documents
Research/compile specifications
Custom design and detail millwork and special fixtures
Review for Code and ADA compliance
Coordinate MEP/FP engineering consultants
Review submittals
Perform Project Administration.

Technology companies, financial & professional services firm design experience a plus.
Strong design and project management skills.
A hands-on design type – someone who can originate, draw, lead and execute. Someone who is competent with both design and technical issues.
Strong communications and client facing skills a must. Client development important in building trust and loyalty to the company.
