Pastoral is a 4,000 square foot restaurant space in the industrial Fort Point Channel area of Boston, Massachusetts. The concept and name, Pastoral, reflect elements of agrarian culture; the simplicity, charm and serenity of the countryside juxtaposed within an urban and industrial shell. The story is of a peasant family’s migration to the flickering city. They gathered all the belongings possible to be carried on their backs and with it cobbled together a new restaurant and new start. The décor is a sea of mis-matched textures and colors, for instance the wall separating the bar from the dining room that is composed of individual antique windows assembled to create a sense of separation between the bar and the dining room without closing them off completely.
